What is EFT?
EFT is founded on the concept that distressing emotions, upsetting traumatic memories, or self limiting thoughts are conncected with a disruption in the subtle energy systems of the mind and body. The nervous system has meridian points which when stimualted with tapping or pressure and having the client "tune in" to the problem brings about rapid recovery that is usually permanent recovery. An imbalance in the energy system often results in pain, diseases, depression, weight fluctuations, self esteem issues, addictive cravings, fears, phobias, and a myriad of others. EFT balances the energy system and achieves measurable results rapidly and without causing undue emotional distress.
A good analogy for EFT is to think of a TV that is not tuned in properly. There is a picture but it is covered in static. We feel that static as depression, anxiety, anger etc. By tapping on meridian points with our fingers we correct the TV tuning to show a clear picture and hence clear the negative emotion.
Are there any contraindications to using EFT?
EFT is safe, easy to apply, and non-invasive. To date, minimal side effects have been reported other than occasional temporary fatigue.
Why does EFT focus on the negative so much? Can this hurt me?
In order for EFT wo work, you must be tuned in to your problem, for example, actually feeling some of the anxiety. This allows the treatment to be "aimed" at the problem, and be neutralized as a resulf of using the tapping. For a comprehensive study of installing the positive aspects, see Dr. Patricia Carrington's Choices manual at http://www.eftsupport.com.
How many sessions will I need?
Working with the subconscious mind is a powerful process which usually produces noticeable results within a short time, sometimes immediately. People generally experience some positive changes within the first session or two. Although some problems (phobias, for instance) may be alleviated in just one session, most issues are best dealt with in 2-5 sessions. It will be clear within the first few sessions whether we are making progress. And some people choose to continue with further sessions, dealing with more and more issues as the healing process unfolds.
