A typical Reiki session:
A typical Reiki session lasts approximately 60 minutes and is done while lying fully clothed on a massage table. At times the session may be done sitting in a chair. During the session the practitioner will place their hands on or slightly above you, from your head all the way down to your toes. (Hands are placed with respect not to violate an individual's body privacy). In each hand position the practioner sends healing energy into your body. A practitioner's touch is always light, gentle and usually motionless. There is no massage or body manipulation involved. A session can be very relaxing, and it's OK to fall asleep. You may experience varied sensations such as tingling, warming or gentle waves moving through your body. Or you may not feel anything but a sense of relaxation. At the very least, expect to feel wonderfully relaxed, calm and refreshed. It is important to drink lots of water after the session to aide in the cleansing of the body.
You should be dressed in comfortable, loose fitting clothing such as sweats, loose pants and t-shirts. (But any comfortably fitting clothing is acceptable.) Tight garments and belts are not conducive to relaxation. Shoes are always removed during a session.
